Santoro Gorjuss Decoupage Birthday Card

This card is a little different to my usual style, but as I received a Santoro Gorjuss decoupage set free with a Docrafts.com order, I thought I would use it in this birthday card.

Santoro Gorjuss Decoupage Lilac Birthday Card

I started with the decoupage which was quite easy to pop out of the sheets and just needed a little snipping to tidy up the edges. I used large and small sized square foam pads, as there were some fiddly small sections that needed a tiny foam square on the layers (such as the collar on the dress).

Then I added two extra layers behind the decoupage using Xcut nesting oval and scalloped oval dies. I used papers that I received free with a retired Sweet Dixie die I bought from eBay, so this really was a great value card to make! I also received the matching buttons with my free decoupage set, which matched really well with this card.

Next I added a wide black grosgrain ribbon and added a teal satin ribbon on top to add a different texture, with a hand-tied lilac ribbon added on top. Finally, on top of this I added a peel-off sentiment on to purple card which I layered with the same teal paper I used to back the decoupage, and added this using more 3D foam.

I will be entering this into the anything goes challenges over at Inspiration Destination and Lemon Shortbread.

Happily ever after: Princess carriage wedding card

It has been a while since I have been able to post as it has been quite hectic in our house recently as we are currently in the process of buying a house! So now we are playing the waiting game as everything goes through I have been able to spend more time in my craft room – resulting in this lovely Princess carriage wedding card.

Happily Ever After - Princess Carriage card, green and silver

I absolutely love this die from Sweet Dixie (and the sentiment die too!), which I cut in silver and I added pale green gems for the horse’s mane and accents to the carriage. I added this over a green satin ribbon road which was affixed to a pearlescent card from a DCWV mat stack, which I layered on silver mirror card. Then I die cut the sentiment in cream pearlescent card and the same silver mirror card and overlaid them, with an extra heart cut to decoupage on top. Finally I added a ribbon in the same pale green satin with a gem in the centre of the bow.

A handmade Christmas card – a real gift

With less than four months until Christmas I am now very happy to be completing more Christmas challenges and making more handmade Christmas cards, so that I will be prepared when the festive season comes. Although I normally get into the swing of festive cheer quite early in the year, we have a birthday and then a holiday in September this year, so I think when we get back the next big event will be Christmas!

Pink, green and red Christmas card featuring a gift and snowflakes

This card is inspired by the challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown which this week is: gifts. I started with one of my favourite dies from Sweet Dixie – a gift box with elaborate bow details. I cut this using my Big Shot Plus in a pink card and a green card with gold glitter and then cut the ribbon section from the pink card and decoupaged this.

Then I stamped the sentiment with a Hobbycraft clear stamp (which I picked up for a bargain 85p!) using a brilliance dew drop ink pad in pearlescent ivy. The papers are from a set with no branding, but I really like the unusual colour combination on these. After adding the ribbon in pink I added a final gem to the centre of the bow in red.

Pretty in pink birthday bear card

Today my card is inspired by the theme over at Cute Card Thursday: kiddies/babies. As I don’t have any stamps with babies or children on as I tend to pick the furry cuties such as bears, rabbits and penguins, here is a pink birthday bear card for a little girl.

Pretty in pink birthday bear card

I started with a clear backed sticker from Daisy & Dandelion which I added to a die cut circle of patterned paper, which was backed with a scalloped die cut circle. Can you tell I am new to die cutting and I am now using my dies for every card?! I added patterned paper from the same set (I’m not sure where this cam from as it is an off-cut from my craft stash) to the bottom half of the card and added a pink satin ribbon border.

Then I stamped the sentiment, layered this on patterned card and added a bow from the same Daisy & Dandelion sticker set. I then fussy cut around another two bows stuck on pink card to add a decoupage layer on the image and the edge of the sentiment. I would normally have added gems in the corner but as the sticker set had some small circles I added these to the corner instead, to match the rest of the set.
