Custom stamped horse birthday card

It has been a while since I posted a custom order, as I have been busy making designs for my new Etsy store and for an upcoming craft fair in Canterbury. This horse birthday card was a real pleasure to make, as it was for someone with a real passion for their horse.

Horse birthday card

I started with an A6 white card and added a patterned brown card from a DCWV mat stack. Then using a stamp from Anita’s I used a Tsukineko Brilliance Dew Drop ink pad to stamp the horse onto white card which I mounted using double-sided tape.

Next I added satin ribbon in a lovely forest green and matching emerald gems in the top right corner of the card. Finally I added a hand-written message (Happy Birthday) using a metallic glitter ink pen. I hope the recipient likes it!

Fairytale Horse and Carriage Wedding Card

It has certainly been cold in Kent this last week, with snow, frost and now the fog has rolled in! This makes for perfect crafting weather, and I have been thinking ahead to all those lovely spring weddings on the horizon. As a former Disney bride (I married my Prince Charming in Walt Disney World in 2011) I had to use this beautiful cutting die for a wedding card fit for a fairy tale princess.

Peach Horse and Carriage Wedding Card

I started with a 7 x 5 inch peach card blank and used a metallic printed paper with flowers and chandeliers on and mounted this on cream card. You may notice that I deliberately turned the print on its side – this was so that the florals would be behind the sentiment at the top and the chandeliers act as a directional print for the carriage to follow.

Next I added a satin peach ribbon in a similar tone to act as a red carpet for the happy couple and their carriage to travel on. I cut the horse and carriage Sweet Dixie die using my Big Shot Plus and then added different shaped gems in the same colour as accents on the coach and a full bejeweled mane on the horse. This die really is so lovely and I didn’t have to run it through again to get the embossing detail.

When I bought the coach die I also bought the Happily Ever After Die (and another beautiful castle die too) which fit perfectly on this card. I used a slightly lighter ivory card for this sentiment and for the surname on the card too. I used the same cream card on the Mr & Mrs heart die (which is from an Xcut mini wedding set) and mounted this using 3D foam for some extra dimension.

Finally I die-cut an additional small heart to mount on the heart in the Happily Ever After sentiment in the darker cream to tie the colours together.

This card is already spoken for, but I have added this wedding card design to my newly opened Etsy store, if you would like to take a look: Houlding Hands on Etsy

I will be entering this into the anything goes challenges over at: Through the Craft Room Door. The anything that shines challenge (all those gems!) over at Crafting by Designs, as well as the ‘New beginnings’ challenge over at the Not Just Cards Challenge.

Snowflake Christmas Celebration Card

As Christmas day approaches, I have another last minute Christmas celebration card. I’m quite glad I needed a few extra cards, as I got to use a new snowflake Sweet Dixie die!

Snowflake Christmas Celebration Card

I used a sheet of printed paper that I received for free with a crafting magazine recently, which I backed with black card. I then die cut the large snowflake in red card, which I mounted and then added red and light blue gems as accents. Finally I stamped the sentiment on red card, mounted this using 3D foam and then added four teardrop red gems in the corner of the red card.

I will be entering this card into the anything goes challenges over at Through the Craft Room Door, the Lemon Shortbread Challenge. Plus, I am entering this into the pick a previous challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where I have picked the sketch challenge from October.

Happily ever after: Princess carriage wedding card

It has been a while since I have been able to post as it has been quite hectic in our house recently as we are currently in the process of buying a house! So now we are playing the waiting game as everything goes through I have been able to spend more time in my craft room – resulting in this lovely Princess carriage wedding card.

Happily Ever After - Princess Carriage card, green and silver

I absolutely love this die from Sweet Dixie (and the sentiment die too!), which I cut in silver and I added pale green gems for the horse’s mane and accents to the carriage. I added this over a green satin ribbon road which was affixed to a pearlescent card from a DCWV mat stack, which I layered on silver mirror card. Then I die cut the sentiment in cream pearlescent card and the same silver mirror card and overlaid them, with an extra heart cut to decoupage on top. Finally I added a ribbon in the same pale green satin with a gem in the centre of the bow.

Hand painted background birthday card

This card is inspired by the ‘make your mark’ challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More. I will also be entering this painted background birthday card into the anything goes challenges over at Inspiration Destination and Penny’s Paper Crafty Challenge.

Metallic painted background card: silver, mint and lilac

I started with metallic paints from Aztec paints in a lilac, mint green and silver and used a flat wash brush to create this mixed thin stripe background. After letting this dry, I trimmed the card and mounted it on silver mirror card. Then I added a silver Happy Birthday die cut and added two sized matching lilac flower gems.

This is the first time I have tried painting a full background and I really like the effect. I can’t wait to try out other colours and different styles too.

Thanks a bunch! Monochrome thank you card

This thank you card was inspired by the monochrome theme over at Crafty Friends and I am also entering this into the anything goes challenge over at Inspiration Destination.

With thanks floral monochrome card

I started with a square white card and chose two monochrome patterned papers from the DCWV black and white paper mat stack. Next I used a flower Sweet Dixie cutting die and cut the petals out of black, then a grey rose print, and finally the same ditsy floral print as the paper layer on the card. I stuck all three of them all together with Tattered Lace detail glue and added a black gem to the centre of the flower.

Next I used another Sweet Dixie die to cut the With Thanks sentiment from black card and added this to the card with more of the Tattered Lace detail glue. Finally I added three more of the same black gems to the corner of the card to even the design out.

I really like this design, even though I was so tempted to add bright coloured gems to the flowers! I think I may try this same layout with brights next.

Feeling festive with a snowman Christmas card

This card is inspired by the sketch over at the Tuesday Throwdown (below), and I am also entering this snowman Christmas card into the anything goes challenges over at Through the Craft Room Door and Addicted to Stamps and More.

Blue and red snowman with mittens Christmas Card

I started with a clear Jolly Santa snowman stamp from Docrafts, which I stamped using a graphite black brilliance dew drop ink pad. Then using a small water colour palette I painted the stamped image and then let this dry. I created two back panels using what I think is papers by DCWV and layered these with block colours of blue and red to match the pattern. In line with the sketch I secured the long panel with double sided tape and the square panel with the stamped image using foam tape.

Then underneath this I added the Noel red and white ribbon, which I bought in the last few week and love the design of! I was having a look for snowflake gems and couldn’t find any so used these blue gems which I think are flowers but as they are quite pointy they almost look like snowflakes.

The sentiment is from a clear set by Dovecraft which I stamped using another Brilliance ink pad, but this time in Rocket Red. I mounted this on the same red and blue card to match the rest of the panels. Finally I added a few little pearlescent white gems as snow behind the snowman.

Mojo Monday card sketch challenge

This card is inspired by the sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday (which is below). This is a quick one today as I haven’t managed to keep up with the challenges I normally participate in this week, but next week I should be back on schedule and taking part throughout the week (if life doesn’t get in the way again!).

Three silver hearts pink glitter card

I started with a large slim metallic silver card for a base and added the two layers in black metallic and silver mirror card. On the black metallic card I added three die cut silver mirror card hearts with a silver gem tucked in the curve of each heart.

The sentiment is a clear sticker from Daisy & Dandelion added to a die cut silver mirror card circle. I added a black brad to the tag and mounted this using foam pad. I used a bright pink glitter ribbon at the bottom of the card and added black gems to the pink metallic layer and at the bottom right of the card. This would make a perfect Valentine’s Day or Anniversary card.

Lilac Happy Birthday Cute Cat Card

This card is inspired by the #369 sketch challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches (sketch below).  This happy birthday cute cat card is on a 5 x 7 inch lilac card and I started with lovely pastel papers from American Crafts.

Cute Cat Happy Birthday Lilac Cat Card

The striped card makes up the bottom layer then I added the floral layer and an extra strip of the gingham lilac card which I had leftover from a DCWV mat stack. I added a slim silver ribbon and stamped on a die cut circle (from an Xcut nesting die set) before adding the bow making it look like a tag. Then I added the clear sticker on the lilac card which matches the card blank and added a scalloped circle die cut behind this – then I added them using foam tape to add dimension to the card. Finally I added three little pastel flower gems in the top left corner of the card to finish off the design.

I am also entering this card into the Lemon Shortbread #24 Anything goes challenge.

As the focus of this post is a cute cat card I thought I might also add a cute photo of one of our cats – Pumpkin, who was enjoying the last of the summer sunshine today.

Happy Birthday Cupcake Card

This card was inspired by a very festive week in the Houlding household as it was my birthday! This sums up the party atmosphere and the sweets and treats we consumed by the bucket-load! The colours of this Happy Birthday Cupcake card are right up my street and reflected all the bright birthday cards my lovely friends and family gave to me too.

Happy Birthday Cupcake card

I used an Elizabeth Craft Design cupcake cutting die and some of my favourite papers from American crafts. The stamp is from a clear Daisy & Dandelion set and I added black gems in the centre of the bow and at the edge of the cards. I am really starting to notice how contemporary cards look when you add black as an accent colour and this is especially true in this card.

I am entering this card in the following challenges: Simon Says Stamp (anything goes) and Inspiration Destination #102 (anything goes).
